Brandmeesters Equito Melange 2021

It has been really nice trying out some beans that are especially roasted for espresso. The Equito from Brandmeesters is a little more exotic and citrussy than the excellent Aficionado we tasted earlier and therefore a little less Italian. The finish is long and much sweeter, and reminds me of sweeter single malt whiskies such as Cardhu or Dalwhinnie. It was quite a lot harder to extract these beans properly using the flair, even with the super consistent Perfetto grinder. I had to grind quite fine to get a properly timed shot but when I hit the sweet spot the Equito proves a little more excitement and surprise than the robust Aficionado workhorse.
